Our Approach
Andrew Thorp (Business in Golf) and his associate Max Watts
(Kanousei) offer unusual and powerful business training solutions, drawing on their respective backgrounds and expertise.
Having worked in sales, marketing and operational management for many years, Andrew combines this business experience with his knowledge of sports coaching and performance. Max uses Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) to provide an insight into interpersonal communication and workplace performance.
Why train with us?
In business people buy people, and products and services are delivered through people. And for this reason, those moments of interpersonal contact are crucial to the success of any business.
Our role is to enable you and your people to produce outstanding work IN THE FIELD, when it matters. That means:
• generating more leads
• producing more sales
• delivering world-class customer service
• MORE PROFITS
Our brand of training is designed to engage, entertain and widen the perspective of your people, allowing them to flourish and achieve their potential.
What we do
Andrew and Max provide some unusual and highly effective coaching techniques that focus primarily on those ‘moments of truth’ in business where workers are asked to perform an activity in front of, and involving other people. Examples would be:
• Sales
• Leadership & Management
• Networking and relationship building
• Presenting skills
• Customer service

How we work
Using innovative training techniques, from motivational talks to in-house workshops, we use sport to help remove those layers that hold us back.
Lots of athletes do their homework on the opposition, research the field of play, have a clear strategy in mind, practise their skills and get physically in shape to perform – all good lessons for business too.
But only a handful consistently rise to the top. They have the magic ingredient - less tangible but equally relevant. We’re talking about things like focus, self-belief, determination, the things that help Woods and Federer still win when they’ve only brought their ‘B’ game.
Using Golf
Golf is an individual pursuit. In that respect it mirrors those times in business when you’re on your own, exposed and on stage. That’s particularly relevant for entrepreneurs, leaders and sales people who have to stay motivated and focused to perform consistently.

The best golf coaches have long abandoned a purely mechanical approach to teaching. The mind controls the body and the psychological aspects of coaching are considered paramount. Again, in those key business situations, we have to consider our ‘inner voice’ and its impact on our performance. One commentator dubbed it the ‘evil caddie’, a nagging influence that holds us back in so many ways.
Using NLP in corporate training
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) is one of the most significant discoveries in human communication and performance. NLP is about achieving and maintaining excellence – and getting fast results. Recognised as the most powerful tool in achieving lasting change in attitude and behaviour, NLP provides a logical guide to how the mind works. It provides an insight into how and why people feel, think and behave as they do.
Not surprisingly, NLP has fast become a proven force in performance-related training and has been successfully applied in business, sport and life coaching.
Who can benefit
Our training is particularly relevant to those people in business who have to perform day-upon-day, to a consistently high level - leaders, entrepreneurs and sales people. It’s also highly effective with client-facing staff in retail and service environments.
Our aim is not only to help you raise the bar when things are going well, but to help you deal with the occasional lows that come with a performance-related role.
By using sporting analogies and some powerful coaching techniques used in professional sport, we’ll provide training that’s fun, thought-provoking and highly effective.
