IS THIS YOU?
You don't play but you've often thought about giving it a go.
You know it's a very social game and very good for business.
You'd like to start saying 'yes' to the occasional invitation to play.

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Learner Drivers aims to teach business people and professional workers how to play golf. We recognise that golf is a tremendous tool for developing business relationships - but if you don't play (or play really badly) you're missing out!

We provide you with what we believe is the very best introduction to the game possible.

Learner Drivers allows you to learn the game through a TWO-STAGE process of golf swing lessons (INDUCTION) followed by a series of instructional events (DEVELOPMENT), making the process fun and sociable.

Stage One - Induction (Lessons)
This is where we work with you to construct a basic golf swing. Private lessons in the driving range - starting from £100 for a run of 6 half hour sessions.

Golf lessons are essential if you're going to build a sound, basic golf swing. Half a dozen lessons should get you to 'first base' provided you practise properly in between sessions. It's still early stages, and you may well wish to refine your swing further, but you've got some essential fundamentals in place.

But what then?

Stage Two - Development (Learner Driver Events)
You've constructed a basic golf swing through an initial lesson programme, but you don't really know how to apply it yet. That's where the Learner Drivers Club comes in.

Essentially a series of monthly instructional golf events, the Learner Drivers Club enables you to:

1. consolidate the techniques learned in golf lessons.
2. transfer your golf swing from driving range to golf course.
3. acquire the skills/knowledge needed to play and compete.
4. develop new, profitable relationships with business people.

The Learner Drivers Club - how it works
For a monthly fee of £25, members receive free entry to one standard instructional event per month PLUS additional benefits listed below. A minimum of 2 events are scheduled each month and these take place either in the Playgolf Driving Range (Trafford, Manchester) or on local par-3 academy courses.

Driving Range Events
Normally on a midweek evening, between 6.30pm-8.30pm. Mixture of practical tuition in the range and classroom video instruction. Range balls and clubs provided.

Events on Par-3 Academy Courses
Mostly on a weekend morning (9.30am-12.30pm). Nine holes in groups of 3 around the Academy Course, with a Teaching Professional in attendance. Prize giving and analysis to follow.

What kind of things will you learn?
Each month we cover a different tuition theme, central to the development of your golf game. Normally at the end of the practical element of the event, this is in the form of a 30 minute classroom presentation covering subjects like:

• understanding the golf swing
• adapting to the golf course
• putting, chipping and bunker shots
• golf rules & etiquette
• choosing golf equipment

Membership Benefits
• regular tuition events for novices
• free use of range balls/equipment
• monthly tuition theme
• meet fellow golfers from the business world
• access to tuition library (video clips, articles)
• access to opted-in database of fellow members

Note:
Membership runs for 12 months but members paying by monthly standing order can terminate their membership at any time.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is classed as a Standard Tuition Event?
The majority of events shown on the schedule are 'standard tuition events'. These include the regular midweek events at Playgolf (Trafford) and the weekend par-3 events at Styal and Adlington. Members are entitled to free entry to ONE of these per month.

What's different about the 'special events'?
We occasionally schedule 'special events' which incur a separate fee (eg extended events at Portal or overseas teaching trips). In this case, you may use your 'one-event credit' against the cost of this event, but a supplementary fee will apply.

Can I enter more than one event per month?
Yes, you have access to ONE standard tuition event FREE each month, but you may enter more than one standard tuition event on payment of an additional fee of £15.

How do I book into events?
Simply drop an e-mail to Andrew Thorp. Members are entitled to ONE free standard tuition event per month, but if members don't take this free event entry, this does NOT carry forward into subsequent months.

What if I can't make it to an event I've booked for?
Members must give at least 24 hours' notice of cancellation of an event entry. If not, we reserve the right to count that month's event credit as taken.

What equipment do I need to take part in events?
For driving range events we provide range balls and golf clubs (if required). Bring your own clubs if you have them. For par-3 academy course events, we provide golf clubs (if needed, again bring your own if you have them) BUT you will need a small golf bag (carrying bag), golf shoes, tee pegs and golf balls. An umbrella and waterproof clothing is also advisable.

OTHER EVENTS
In addition to the above, members can expect the occasional social event and away trip (UK or overseas). And for the better players, there wil be opportunities to play full-length 18 hole courses (we have a partnership with the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Golf Society).
